HOW TO STARVE AN ARTIST is an innovative, passionate and entertaining show that blows open ideas about creative nourishment.

Award-winning Canadian poet (and food lover!) Rose Condo performs a series of original poems in her inimitable wry and engaging style.  Exploring the theme of feeding one’s inner artist, Rose simultaneously prepares and serves food to the audience.  Each audience member is given a ‘Starving Artist Kit’ as they enter, containing items to help inspire individual creative activity.  As variety is the spice of life, each show also features a special guest performance.

HOW TO STARVE AN ARTIST was Runner Up Best Spoken Word Show with the Saboteur Awards and nominated for the Spoken Word Award at the Buxton Fringe. .  The show has toured in the UK, including a sold out run at Huddersfield's Lawrence Batley Theatre, and was listed in UMFM's top ten shows of the 2017 Winnipeg Fringe Festival in Canada.

‘This is without doubt the most accessible, life affirming and heart-warming poetry show I have seen in many years.’

Audience review

‘A beautiful exploration of nourishment - both nutritional and soulful.  There was a real sense of togetherness,  as we all sat together and ate, listening to amazing, emotional poetry.’  Emma Whitehall, Writer & Poet

'Generous in every sense of the word;  she shared poems and food with her audience, and her stage with other performers.

An excellent display of her talent as a spoken word artist.'  Online review
